Alicia & Eddie Engagement Shoot {Portland, Oregon}

I had so much fun with Alicia and Eddie shooting these engagement photos. These two are a very crafty and creative couple as you can see from their super cute place! We started with a pancake breakfast in the kitchen and ended up antique hunting (one of my favorite hobbies.) I can’t wait to shoot their wedding at Gallery 903 in the Pearl District next Autumn!

Cheryl & Patrick {Langham Hotel and The Women’s Twentieth Century Club, Pasadena/Eagle Rock, Ca}

Cheryl & Patrick were married during the Winter Solstice in a non traditional ceremony at The Women’s Twentieth Century Club in Eagle Rock, Ca. Patrick and Cheryl had already performed a handfasting ceremony the day before their wedding, but Cheryl wanted to further honor her Wiccan religion by including all four elements during her marriage ceremony. It was also very important to her that their guests feel a part of the ceremony which is why everyone was asked to wear their favorite shade of blue.

Upon arrival, guests were invited to select one of four various boutineers to wear. Each boutineer represented a different element; either water, earth, air or fire and acted as escort cards for the ceremony seating. The Spirit was also present during the ceremony in the form of a large puppet draped in blue which took 3 attendants to maneuver!

Both Patrick & Cheryl are singers and musicians so it was only natural that music play a large part during their ceremony and reception. Cheryl’s mother sang during the processional accompanied by a harpist and Los Angeles band Whispering Pines performed during the reception. Later in the evening both Patrick and Cheryl got up onstage to serenade each other with the band backing them. Honorable mention must go out to the disco flash mob as well! You may remember Cheryl & Patrick from their engagement shoot back in September. Check that shoot out here!

“In short, Sarah was the perfect photographer for our wedding. It was a real pleasure having her shoot our big day and all the day-of preparations. Sarah went above and beyond our expectations. Aside from her courteous and professional attitude, she really went the extra mile to get some gorgeous photos. She works hard but her work looks effortless and joyous. During the wedding, we received lots of feedback from guests saying how great the photographer is — and that was BEFORE anyone even saw any of the photos. When Sarah sent us the photos, we were astounded by how they came out — it was amazing to be able to relive the entire day of our wedding. She really caught the happiness and warmth from each guest and every shot is a cherished memory of our big day. We had many personal touches incorporated into the ceremony and reception that Sarah’s keen eye for details captured beautifully. Thanks to Sarah, our wedding photos will be treasured forever.”
